Letter to Masters Ladies

Happy Holidays!  Hard to believe that this year is coming to an end and the 2014 Masters Tournament is less than two months away!  There is great excitement about the tournaments homecoming and I am excited to welcome all of you to the wonderful place many Masters members, including myself, call home.  I want to share the week’s schedule and information that you all may find helpful.

Our host hotel for the tournament is the world famous, spectacular Breakers Hotel.  Please check out the amenities of the hotel, especially The Spa at The Breakers.  The hotel will probably be at capacity, so feel free to call ahead to schedule service appointments.  www.thebreakers.com  or (888)727-1649.   Tennis and golf is also available at The Breakers.  Please email me if you wish to participate and I will make arrangements to block some time for our group.

We will start off our week with the Ladies Meeting on Monday, January 20th, at 3:00pm at The Breakers Hotel.  The meeting will be held at the same time as the Anglers Meeting, but in a different conference room.  Later that night, the Opening Night Dinner will be held beginning with 6:30pm cocktails at The Sailfish Club, located at 1338 N. Lake Way, Palm Beach, Florida.

The dress for the evening is dressy casual.  Jackets are not required for the gentlemen.  A sumptuous seafood buffet will be enjoyed as we renew friendships and welcome new friends.

The gentlemen will be fishing three out of the next four days, taking a lay day based on the weather report.  Since everyone takes the same lay day, this means that you will have a day during the week to just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings with your fisherman.

The Ladies will enjoy a day of shopping and lunch on famous Worth Avenue in Palm Beach on either Wednesday, January 22, or Thursday, January 23, depending on the lay day.  We will schedule this day on a fishing day.  We will enjoy the unique and amazing shops in this historic shopping venue and then enjoy lunch at Gigi’s Tap & Table restaurant located right on Worth Ave.

Wednesday night, January 22, will be the Chairman’s Party at the Palm Beach home of Rich and Rita Lazzara.  Join us for a night of good food and great friends.  The Lazzara home is located at 318 Arabian Road, Palm Beach.  Dress for the evening is casual.

Friday night is the Dinner and Awards Banquet at the Sailfish Club.  Cocktail attire is requested with jacket and tie required for the gentlemen.  Cocktails will be served at 7:00pm, with dinner and the banquet to follow at 8:00pm.

January is the height of the social season in Palm Beach, with no shortage of  things to do.  In fact, the Cavallino Classic Ferrari gathering will be taking place at The Breakers the week of our tournament, so prepare to see beautiful automobiles on the grounds of the hotel.  Just 20 minutes away is Wellington ,my hometown and the home  of the Winter Equestrian Festival a treat for all horse lovers.  For more information on events, visit the festival’s website www.equestriansport.com .

Winter in Palm Beach can be balmy warm or freezing cold…well, our version of cold!  But you can count on it being breezy, so check the weather and pack  accordingly.

I would like to keep you all informed of any changes or information you may need.  I am requesting that each of you email me your preferred email address, so I can keep you updated on all things pertaining to the 2014 tournament.  I think it’s going to be a fantastic year and I am thrilled that you will be a part of it!  Happy Holidays to all and please let me know if you have any questions I can answer for you on anything you may want to know.  I can’t wait!

Warmest Regards,

Maria Becker
